Required Documents

1. Registration form

2. Recommendation letter form from the local ward office

3. A copy of citizenship

4. If you are from another district, then you should bring a proof showing that you are staying in the district for 15 days from the date of application submitted to District Administration Office.

5. Passport size photo- 8/8 copies for both boys and girls.

6. Three people with their own citizenship of both boy and girl should be present on the day of the registration as a witness for sanakhat.


Cost: Rs. 10/- for a ticket.

Time taken: within 15 days after applying.


1. You have to take a recommendation letter from municipality or VDC with an application letter to Marriage registrar within 15 days.

2. Then your application will be registered.

3. Marriage registrar will inform the applicant within 7 days whether the decision to marry is accepted or rejected

4.. If you are directly applying for court marriage, then you should first fill a form of court marriage and should submit with your citizenship photo copy.

5. If your application is accepted, then you will have to marry within 3 months. If you do not marry then you will have to re-proceed for the recommendation.

6. On the day of marriage, you should bring 3-3 witness from each side . Note: The witnesses will have to sign on the Udghosan Patra too.
